Justice Ain't No Dog...

Actually, it is:

OK, so there's a story behind this shirt, a present from my staff. Last Friday this guy walks in to the clinic at 3:30. His 13-year old dog (named Justice, of course) has "swollen glands" that have been present "all week" but now it's an emergency at 3:30 PM on Friday. Didn't call when the dog quit eating 3 days ago, it's an emergency now. Typical end-of-the-day Friday case. We have all of our slots booked, so we tell the guy I can't see him until 4:30 and he will have to pay the urgent exam fee (doubling the cost of the fee). "No problem, I want to be seen."

So of course, the dog has lymphoma. I spend 10 minutes talking about chemo, palliative options, etc. "This dog is a service dog, doc, money is no problem."

This, of course, is a load of absolute crap. Almost all service dogs are retired at 10. Furthermore, this guy looks like he hasn't showered in a week. But whatever, I have an oath to uphold. He opts to go home and think about it. And when my staff tells him the bill, he announces he has $17. So he lied to my staff about being able to pay. Yeah buddy, money is no object. Especially when you don't have any.

So anyway, as I present I got this shirt. Which is all in all pretty awesome with Scott Walker trying to end worker rights and break unions, it is just like 1910 again. Union breaking and people expecting to get veterinary care for free whenever they want it.
